Focusing on the liminal aspect of AiOP’s 2017 SENSE theme, Alisha Wessler researched the history of 14th Street to expose the “currents of which most busy passersby may remain unaware” as they walk through the city. While researching the history of the street, Wessler found that 14th Street has been home to a surprising array of artists and poets. In a gesture indicating they are still living among us, the artist has inserted the names of these legends back into their original dwellings in way of a simple intervention: the name beside the door.
