Praxis

Praxis (Delia and Brainard Carey) have performed and exhibited in the Whitney Biennial as well as the Slovenian Biennial, Reina Sofia, and MoMA among others. Their work is intimate: giving hugs and foot washings, and applying bandages for non-visible wounds. They established The Museum of Non-Visible Art (MONA) with art only seen with the mind’s-eye.

In Art in Odd Places, Praxis will exhibit a series on non-visible works. The works are small (4 x 5 inches) and are mounted on foam-core, resembling the small title card you see in museums next to paintings. Only in this case, it is only the card which describes the work and its author – and the viewer must imagine the work in his/her mind’s-eye. The works range from drawings and sculpture to murals and large scale works filled with electronics as well as work (sculpture) that can reach beyond the space that the viewer is standing in.
