Jennifer Zackin & Adolfo Ibáñez Ayerve

Jennifer Zackin and Adolfo Ibáñez Ayerve have been working together making offerings, creating cross-cultural inter-disciplinary projects and workshops in the United States and in Peru. Their ongoing project Chokechaka is dedicated to cultural, social, environmental and humanitarian enrichment by sharing skills, knowledge, traditions, and building community and forming collaborations.

Yanantin

14th Street at Jackson Square

Jennifer Zackin and Adolfo Ibáñez Ayerve will present “Yanantin” a communal offering. The Despacho (a traditional Andean offering) ceremony offers gratitude, love and prayer in the form of a ritual feeding to the water, mother earth, mountains, sun, and the moon. The offering is a bundle of items infused with intention offered in reciprocity to the natural world. Once the offering is complete the offering is bundled up and will be burned at another location. For this occasion we will create the offering for the Hudson River, who like all rivers in the United States are under assault by the fossil fuel and nuclear energy industries.
