Maximiliano Siñani

Maximiliano Siñani graduated from the School of Visual Arts, and has had solo shows at El Museo del Barrio, Galería Hilo, Sorojchi Tambo, and 9th Bienal Siart. He was awarded the Sylvia Lipson Allen Award and published in A – ediciones arte contemporáneo, and co-curates 67 in the Lower East Side.

Traffic Cones

Siñani uses traffic cones covered with white fur to hold space empty or mark an area one cannot enter, whether for construction or film productions. Having used cones to hold parking spots for himself in Brooklyn, he found that in winter the cones were covered with snow, which gave him the idea to cover them with white fur. The fact that these cones are covered with white fur and do not accomplish a normal function entices the viewer. This treatment of the signifier on a traffic cone leads to nothing, although they are still traffic cones but not really.
